About Aadil Palkhivala and Mirra

Aadil Palkhivala and Mirra are the founders of Purna Yoga. They have spent their lives studying, understanding, practicing and sharing what they have learned from the magnificent traditions of yoga in order to help others. Recognized worldwide as two true masters, they are fervently dedicated to their students’ progress and growth towards their soul. “As our students grow, we grow,” said Aadil. Mirra and Aadil offer their expertise and time-tested knowledge of asana, pranayama, meditation, nutrition, philosophy and life-style in a magnificent body of expanding truth called Purna Yoga.

Aadil Palkhivala

For over thirty years, Aadil has had a reputation as a “teacher of teachers,” training yoga teachers since 1976. Aadil began the study of yoga with B.K.S. Iyengar at the age of 7 and was introduced to the Integral Yoga of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother at the age of 10. He was certified as an Advanced Yoga Teacher by Iyengar at the age of 22. Aadil and his wife Mirra are the co-founders and directors of internationally-renowned Yoga Centers ™ in Bellevue, Washington, and the co-founders of Purna Yoga™ and the Washington State licensed College of Purna Yoga™, which offers Yoga Alliance 200-hour and 500-hour teacher trainings, as well as the Purna Yoga Certificate Program. Aadil is the author of the book, Fire of Love: For Students of Life and Teachers of Yoga, and is an “asana expert” for Yoga Journal magazine and its website. Constantly educating himself in his passion for teaching the “whole yoga,” Aadil has degrees in law, physics, and mathematics, and is a certified Shiatsu and Swedish bodywork therapist and a clinical hypnotherapist. He is also a federally licensed doctor of Naturopathy and an Ayurvedic Health Science Practitioner.

Mirra

Mirra teaches Purna Yoga Meditation based on her inner contact with great masters and her soul. She teaches inner alignment for transformation using simple techniques applicable in day-to-day life. Purna Yoga Meditation is a practical approach to meditation based on going into the heart chakra and connecting with the Pillar of Light, which is the soul in the physical body. Mirra has practiced meditation since 1986, sometimes for 18 hours a day. Her techniques have helped her through many life-threatening illnesses, and death experiences. Mirra has taught meditation since 1993 and directs Yoga Centers and the College of Purna Yoga in Bellevue, Washington State, along with her husband, Aadil. Mirra is the author of Meditation Snacks™ and Meditation Meals™.
